such a beautiful dress! the color and the style suit you very well. I see you have a big catch stitch. When I took my first class with Susan (LBD on Patternreview) I made catch stitches really small (about 1cm), I really enjoy this stitch, and it took me a while to stitch more generously.
Did you make waist stay as well?

That's really gorgeous - the colour is fabulous, I love the buttons and the fit is spot on. Hehe...I remember Susan saying that about catch stitching, Marina, in her course. Something about enjoying the process, but really, sometimes you just have to get it done

Thank you Frabjous and couture academic! Frabjous, no I did not make a waist stay for this dress. I just followed along as she made her dress. She did not use a waist stay although it had a waist seam.

She did not use a waist stay although it had a waist seam. I asked out of interest mostly, I put waist stays in most dresses to remove stress from the zipper at the waist. But your dress behaves well without it from what I can see )

Frabjous, now that I recall, I believe I used the selvage edge of silk organza to reinforce the waist seam only. It's been awhile since I've seen the videos, but Susan did talk about waist stays for exactly the reason you stated. Do all your waist stays have hook and eyes?

That dress turned out superb. I do find the catch stitches a little big only for the reason that I would probably get my finger stuck in them while trying the garment on not be because that size wouldn't do the job of keeping the seam allowances in place.
I like the interior look of your finished garment now as opposed to wanting to see a lining covering everything up as in RTW. That look some getting used to.
Bravo on your first couture dress. It fits perfectly and has great body, perfect for the design and your daughter.
