Hallo, Renee, great to have you here! How did you become a certified seamstress? is it for mass production or custom work? Do you also learn couture techniques for the certification?
Please do share your creations with us, and if you have a blog list it in the couture blog list.

Hi Frabjous, In the Netherlands there are a couple of institutions that offer courses for becoming a certified seamstress. One of them is called Danckaerts and I am qualified through their system. It includes a lot of pattern drafting and special sewing techniques, some even haute couture. For my seamstress exam I had to produce a couture jacket for my model, including the tailored collar and using hair canvas, in less than 4 days. I try to learn more couture techniques by following Craftsy courses, reading a lot of books and am applying for a part time course at The Master Tailor Institute in Amsterdam. The Master Tailor Institute is a foundation dedicated to re-establishing quality tailoring to the Netherlands. I do have a blog but it is in Dutch only... Here is the link anyway: www.seamstresstobe.blogspot.comRegards, Renee
