Hi there! So nice to see an international community taking off I'm from The Netherlands. What a good idea to start this, Frabjous, thank you! I'm definitely an amateur at sewing, starting when I was about 12 years old (now 57), sewing for myself and later for my children and the home. I certainly enjoyed it, but the results were not always great, mainly due to my lack of knowledge of fitting. A few years ago, I found myself really fed up with RTW. It never fit right, there were so few colours available and the construction was poor, so I decided to get back to sewing for myself. And wow, that sewing community sort of exploded before my eyes! Amazing, as I'd witnessed for years the closing of fabric shops and nobody being interested. I read blogs, took and take Craftsy classes, lapped up the "sewing bee", so much so, that I wonder that my "hobby" isn't sewing, but watching video's and reading about sewing. It was Susan Khalje who got me hooked on couture techniques and I'm still learning, so I'm happy this forum is in existence, so that I can carry on and get some of that stash busted.
